Training Adderpaw

With a sniff of the frosty air, Brighteye looked back to her apprentice, giving her tail a slight flick as she tilted her head slightly. "Are you ready to learn some harder battle moves now?"

"Yes." Adderpaw said clearly, her mysterious silver-blue eyes excited.

Suddenly, she darted forward, dodging to the she-cats side, and rushed in with an attack. She pushed herself up, distributing her weight to her hind-legs, and let her front leg come down squarely on the apprentice's shoulder. "If you are fast enough," she mewed, getting off of the apprentice, "You could get a good rake on their back; pushing to the ground will leave them winded, and the scratches... well..." She thought hard, then shrugged, smiling. "It would give them a few good parting gifts from Lightning Clan."

Adderpaw scrambled to her paws, quickly hiding her surprise. "I'll certainly practice to be fast enough." she grinned confidently.

"Now, try that move on me," She mewed, turning around to face her apprentice and blinked at her slowly. "And be careful when you place your weight so quickly on your back paws; most apprentices fall over backwards when they try."

Adderpaw tried the move and almost had it perfect until she sneezed and tripped over her hind paws, landing on her back some how.

Simply turning her head to see her apprentice, she laughed, "Very good, if your trying to startle a bird." She then turned to face her apprentice again, waiting for her to get up. "Do you want me to show you how to do it again, but a little slower?"

"Thanks.." she grunted, getting to her paws. "I got it, I just tripped." Adderpaw laughed.

With a nod, she flicked an ear for her apprentice try the move on her again.

Adderpaw lashed her tail and tried again,this time getting it almost perfect and even clawing her back with sheathed paws.

As she let her weight crumple, she rolled out from under her apprentices paws, panting slightly. "Great job!" she purred, but gave the apprentices leg a pat. "Just make sure your legs are your shoulder-width apart; it let's you keep better balance, and gives your enemy a harder chance of knocking you off her paws." She flicked her tail for Adderpaw to stand, flicked her tail for her to watch. She then strode over to a rock, pushing herself up onto her hindlegs, and bringing her weight down on the rock with a thud. She then beckoned Adderpaw to where she stood, and mewed, "Know, try to knock one of my paws out from under me."

Adderpaw did as she was told and gave her mentor's legs a smooth swipe to knock them from under her. (sorry, brain fart XD)

She let her leg slide away from under her, but then again brought her weight down on Adderpaw's back. "It also works when your against two cats who think they can handle a warrior from Lightning Clan single-pawed."

Adderpaw looked impressed. "interesting." she said In almost a whisper. She then smiled at the thought of surprising Lightningheart with these moves.

"Now," she mewed, stepping over her apprentice, and then nodded to the rock. "Try that move a few times on that rock, and when you get it right, I'll start trying to knock you over."

Adderpaw obediently practiced and soon got the hang of it. Fighting was what she was best at and built for.

When her apprentice had tried the move once more, unbeknownst to her, Brighteye darted her paw lightning-fast at the she-cat, crouched in her awkward fighting stance she had developed for being at a disadvantage with her one eye and three legs.

RedDash watched them from a distance smiling. Adderpaw was going to be a great warrior someday she thought

Adderpaw felt her legs being swept from under her and quickly positoned herself so that she'd land smoothly.

Brighteye let the she-cat's weight come down on her back, and rolled out from under her paws. "That's good enough for that one!" she purred, giving the she-cat a nudge. "We can try it more tomorrow. It's time to learn something new."

"Thanks, RedDash!" Adderpaw said, smiling. She was surprised to see the deputy, but happy that she'd seen her training.

Brighteye gave the deputy a dip of the head, then looked to Adderpaw. "Would you want her to show you what you know?" She sat down, giving her chest a few boastful licks, then added, "She's getting quit excellent with her training, if I do say so myself."
