Old topic - pretty much everything there is restated here
Survey Results-Most people would become active again, a few weren't sure.
-The layout is going to be redone, with brighter colors and having the contest mentioned
here - I'm going to make another topic with more details for that next. OR . . . instead of the contest,
this is a website I once designed . . . it is going to be deleted soon, and we have permission to use their layout. (I can change the banner text.) So if you'd like to do that instead, that's also an option.
-Most people were pretty neutral about the staff, maybe remove inactive people and bump up helpers or even a few members.
-Most people thought we should restart the roleplay, but there are a lot of different opinions here. In the end I did clean out most of the topics, a good amount have been
archived and ones that only had locations like a Warrior Den or Camp Clearing were cleaned and kept.
-As for the other ideas . . . Advertising, of course, is key, we can't expect all the old members to come back and even then, the more the merrier. More roleplaying events like prophecies, disasters, Clan rivalries, and one person brought up a very good point: there aren't many rogues/loners or kittypets, and eventually they are pressured to join Clans, so we'll definitely need more non-Clan cats who are actively roleplayed and don't plan on joining a Clan.
Unannounced Changes-The
rules have been pretty much completely redone, they should be a little less strict and easy to follow now.
-I changed the User Ranks and Points - we don't have any Points now (I might add it in again later), and it's a little harder to rank up.
-A couple group colors have changed, and Helpers changed to Mini Mods. There is also no longer an Artists or Senior Members group, but if anyone wants I'll put that up again. Pretty much everyone I didn't delete is Senior Member material. :3
-I deleted most users. Most people with 100+ posts, or someone who had definitely contributed to the forum, were not deleted. These are the members I might expect to return, if they were reminded of the site. But again, that's only a guess.
-There is now a Character-Related category, for plots, characters, adopting, and mate/character seeking. Those things were a little hidden before, now it's a bit more user-friendly.
-User Announcements have been moved to the Out of Character category. In addition, all sections have been given descriptions.
-There is a new character creating system - now every character has his or her own topic. This is so it's easier to manage. Most of our new members, and probably most of our old ones are more familiar with this system than our old one. Also, any conversations in between creating characters keep to one topic, and are in the Approved Characters section, so when someone approving characters sees a new post there, they won't think it's a new character. There are a couple other reasons but I can't think of them now.
-Portal was deleted. No one uses it, and I don't even know how many know it's there.
New Member StandardsWhen I say "new member" I don't mean someone who is new to the site, I mean the new standards for our old members. x3
-Don't have all non-Clan cats join the Clans, and don't always pressure them to. It was a big thing when Rusty joined ThunderClan, remember how upset some cats were? And we don't have enough members roleplaying non-Clan cats. Get involved with each other, have something happening outside of the Clans.
-When welcoming a member, try to say more than just "Welcome to the site." It's not a
bad thing, and I have as much trouble thinking of something to say as anyone else, but "Welcome to the site" is so obvious that when many say it, no one sounds sincere.
-That's all I can think of right now.
-Wait, never mind. If you've posted art to the Artwork section, move it to the
Gallery. Before it wasn't working, now it should be. A Gallery is more efficient, and built for this kind of stuff.
-Please be more organized in the Literature section. Keep your poetry in your topic. I'm pretty sure more people will read it this way too, if they have the e-mail notifications for new posts.
-Staff members have to approve each other's characters. Because I make mistakes when I put mine together. Also I feel weird when I approve my own.
Clan Leaders and Roleplaying PlansI don't want leaders going inactive like they have in the past (Mothstar and the original Hollowstar),
so only people who have roleplayed actively on the site before can become leaders. They can choose whoever for their deputies. In addition, the two-powerful-characters rule is still in place. I know I haven't been a good, active leader in the past but I'm going to try again, if anyone thinks I don't post enough I'll either post more or kill my character. :3
Most old roleplaying characters have been deleted. You're free to reincarnate them, or pretend they were never deleted. Sorry, I know I didn't really ask anyone before deleting them, but I guess there's no real way to now. :\
Sorry this is a bit long. ^^; Now I'm going to write another long announcement for you to read. :D
