Hunting

Lily ran into the hunting territory and waited for her apprentice.

"Wait up, Lilystream!" the tom-kit mewed, his short legs not yet able to keep up with his mentor. When he had caught up, he almost doubled-over, but managed to pat out, "Are we fishing, or hunting?"

"Just hunting, it's too cold to fish for now. Well have to wait until it warms up" she purrs

"Okay! What do you want me to do first? Scenting? Stalking?" The tom seemed to bounce eagerly, ready to start his training.

She grinned at his energy "Lets try scenting, lets start with that."

"What is it I'm scenting?" the little tom mewed, taking a few deep breaths and opening his jowls. "Wait, I- I think I smell. Erm..." he pointed his paw in the direction of the scent. "What is that?"

She tilted her head up, scenting "Smells like....Squirrel?"

"What does it look like?" the tom whispered, hunkering down closer to the ground.

"Hm well, itd probably be easier to show you what they look like. They have big puffy tails."

Jaggedwing padded about sniffing around..He sighed not finding anything

Looking intently into the direction of the scent, he tried to get into what he thought the hunter's crouch would be. But, unbeknownst to him, his tail stuck out to much, making his hips to spread apart, and Weaselpaw's chest was too close to the ground.

Lily noticed Jagged and smiled then returned her attention to Weaselpaw "Hm, maybe you should try this" She crouched the correct way and grinned at him :3

Noticing his tail and legs, he giggled in embarrassment, then looked expectantly to his mentor. "Like this?" Weaselpaw then tried to copy his mentor to the best of his abilities, making sure his chest was just off the ground, and that his back legs were straight.

"Is the squirrel still there?" the tom mewed, trying to re-establish the place where the squirrel had been.

She scents the air "I dont think so, lets try to find something else"

With a resentful look back to the scent of the squirrel, the little tom let out a short sigh, following his mentor to their new hunting location.

She scents the air and smiles "Do you smell anything?"

With a quick glance around, the tom again breathed in the scents of the forest. He could smell the rotting leaves from Leaf-Fall, and the reeds nearby. A warm scent hit his nose, and his eyes flung open, mewing, "I smell the squirrel again!"

Pulling his paws ever-so-carefully closer to the origin of the smell, the kit could easily scent the location of the squirrel. But what he didn't realize was that his paws were over a slimy pile of leaves, and when he leapt for the bobbing, fluffy tail, he crumpled to his paws, and the squirrel shot up a tree. "Mouse-dung!" he hissed, swatting at the leaves.

She smiles "Sometimes, things dont go according to plan" she shrugs "Lets try again"

Grumbling to himself, the tom got to his paws, shaking the leaf-slime from his paws. He then began to scent the air again, but scented something different. "What is it this time?" he mewed, his tail flicking eagerly at the scent.
